This can be obtained as an addition to your PPL or LAPL pilot licence as a post qualification addition. It allows you to fly during the official hours of night which are between 30 minutes after sunset and 30 minutes before sunrise. Coventry Airport is an ideal venue to take your night qualification as it is one of a handful of airports that is open until 20.00 on some days. Therefore training can take place all year round even in the summer months.
Night Qualification for a Private Pilot Licence
Training comprises of
- a minimum at least 5 hours of flight time including:
- Including at least 3 hours of dual instruction.
- At least 1 hour of cross-country navigation with at least one dual cross-country flight of at least 50 km.
- 5 solo take-offs and 5 solo full-stop landings.
