Experience the freedom and excitement of flying in a 2 or 4 seat light aircraft. Membership is not required. Flight time can be logged and counted as experience towards getting a Pilots Licence.
For each trial flying lesson there is a pre-flight briefing. You will be introduced to the basic flying controls, main instruments and profile of the flight.
Trial Flying Lessons – What to Expect
You sit in the Captain’s seat. Consequently you get the best perspective of the instruments and your own set of controls.
Control the plane for the majority of the flight.
Learn the basics of maneuvering the aircraft.
From our Coventry base, flights can include a scenic view of Warwick castle. Flights over 45 minutes can include a scenic view of Silverstone race track. This is subject to weather and / or other restrictions so cannot be guaranteed, please ask the pilot on the day.
After landing there is a short debrief. Your Instructor can answer any questions you may have. And also show you how to complete your logbook if you want to get one. Furthermore, you can get a consultation with one of of the Almat team. We can help you decide what direction to go with your pilot training. The flight time logged can count towards getting a Private Pilots Licence (LAPL or PPL).
Fuel Surcharge
Please note that due to current fuel prices, until further notice there is a fuel surcharge on all of our flights. Currently this is £25.55 per hour (so a 30 minute flight is half that price), but is subject to change at any time. For any of these products bought after 7th January 2023, no fuel surcharge applies.

Had booked a flying trial lesson for 45minutes. Showed up there expecting they'd just give me controls for a few minutes and that's it but man, what an experience. I was allowed to fly the aircraft for most part after we crossed the BHX airspace limits. James flew with me and what a kind and sweet guy, patient enough to explain all the details and answer all the questions. Even the reception service was one of the most friendly receptions I've ever had - kind and answer to the point. I might or might not take up a PPL but I'll never forget the experience that I had here being an Avgeek. Would definitely recommend everyone to give it a go, forget the price - the experience is worth everything you're paying for. I did have an issue with the video recording where the audio did not get recorded properly, but not that unhappy about it. If you have a GoPro, you can carry it, they have a holder on the aircraft where you can fix it(atleast the 152 I flew had it).

Absolutely first class trial lesson with Mark in the Cessna 172. Felt really safe after 30 minute briefing and a thorough run through of instruments etc. went through all the check list, taxied to runway hold, checklist. Took over controls after Mark took off, climbed to 3,000 feet, banked, left, right, descent, ascent and even some time 'free flight' as long as advised transitions I was about to fly. Joined the pattern left base, on to final and landed the aircraft, holding the flare advised by Markl.A truly memorable, brilliant experience and made so by the superb team at Almat. Highly, highly recommended
