The following policy defines the cancellation fees and when they may be applied as of 11th April 2024.
- To avoid a cancellation fee, notice of cancellation(s) must be given by email to customerservice@almat.co.uk notice by phone or in person is not accepted.
- If WE cancel YOUR booking due to weather or any other reason, no charges will be applied.
- Cancellation fees are applied when bookings are cancelled by members or fast track students with less than 72 WORKING HOURS notice (as per our office hours) from the start of the booking slot. If we are able to cover the flight e.g. with another member the fee may not be applied or only a partial fee applied. However, there is no guarantee we will have any opportunity to give the booking to someone else, and the admin time involved is why a charge may still be applied.
- When it comes to weather – if you are a student, it is ultimately the instructors decision to cancel. An exception is when a student is ready to fly solo, although the instructor may elect to fly alternative lesson should the weather be unsuitable for a solo flight. This may be in the form of revision or a lesson from later in the course that better fits the weather on the day, but only should it benefit the student. In cases when a student cancels due to weather or declines to accept an alternative lesson and the instructor determines it is flyable or an appropriate ground lesson is available, a charge will be applied. Students should discuss doing theory training and / or exams with their instructor when weather prevents flights.
- In certain unforeseen circumstances we may waive the cancellation fee or reduce it, this is at the discretion of the Managing Director.
- The current cancellation fee is £60 including VAT per hour and a half of time booked. For cancellations made on the same day of the booking or where no notice is given, this is increased to £85.
- If the number of cancellations without sufficient notice (by a member or fast track student) is considered excessive, we reserve the right to suspend or cancel membership, or terminate a fast track scheme training agreement.
- A partial fee may be applied in the case of late arrival.
- A full or partial fee may be applied where lessons cannot go ahead due to:
- not bringing equipment required or key documents you need to carry legally (such as having your medical when going solo).
- being unprepared for a lesson already discussed with an instructor.
