Our modular pilot training pathway offers a clear and structured route to a professional flying career.

You can complete your training at our modern facility at Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport. The pathway takes you from your first flying lesson through to Commercial Pilot Licence training.

It is designed for aspiring professional pilots who want a flexible and realistic route into commercial aviation. Training takes place in stages. Therefore, you can build your flying experience, complete your theory exams and develop advanced flying skills at a manageable pace. Each stage prepares you for the next part of your training. You also keep the flexibility that makes modular training so attractive.

We usually advise students to complete hour building alongside their ATPL theory studies.

Become a Commercial Pilot Without the Integrated Course Price Tag

The modular pathway allows you to complete your training one stage at a time.

Unlike a full-time integrated programme, it does not require you to make a large financial commitment at the start. Instead, you can spread the cost over a longer period. This route is ideal if you need to train around work, study, family life or other commitments.

You will still work towards a professional commercial pilot qualification. However, you can complete the training in a more flexible and manageable way.

Commercial Pilot Licence Pre-requisites

Before starting the Commercial Pilot Licence course, you must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
• Have at least 150 hours of total flight time
• Reach 200 hours of total flight time before the CPL skills test
• Complete the required ATPL theoretical exams

After passing the final ATPL theory exam, you have three years to complete the Commercial Pilot Licence course.

Course Prerequisites and Commitments

To join the course, you must meet the following conditions:

• You must be at least 17 years old. This is the minimum age for obtaining a Private Pilot Licence.
• You must obtain the required medical certificate before your first supervised solo flight.
• You must make your first payment before your first course flight.
• You must be available to fly for at least four hours each week.
• ATPL brush-up weeks are not included in the weekly flying requirement.
• You must complete enough self-study or additional theory training to remain within the course timeframe.
• You must pass your theory exams by the agreed dates.
• You will need an iPad to access the ATPL self-study materials.

What happens if I do not finish the course within the agreed period?

We will review your training progress and suggest new timeframes where required.

How often can I fly?

You can fly for up to two hours per day. However, you must remain available for at least 4 hours of flying each week.Regular flying helps you maintain your skills and make steady progress.

What happens if the school cancels my flight?

We may cancel a flight because of unsuitable weather, aircraft availability or another operational reason.We will contact you as soon as possible. We will then arrange a new date for your flight.

What happens if I cancel a flight?

If you cancel within 72 hours of the booking, we may charge a cancellation fee. Repeated cancellations can affect your progress.

What happens if I do not pass my theory exams by the agreed timeline?

We review each situation individually. Our team may recommend a revised timeframe and additional support. We may also delay your flight training, depending on your progress with the theory course.

What happens if I need more than the minimum flying hours?

Every student progresses at a different rate. If you need additional flying hours, we will charge them at the current hourly rate.

Is the course price fixed?

No. The quoted course price is based on the minimum training requirements.

You may need to pay additional costs for:

• Extra flying hours
• Additional examination attempts
• Extra ground school training
• Other services outside the original quotation

The course may take place over several years. Therefore, we may review and adjust our rates annually.

We will contact you in writing before applying any rate increase.

What happens if I leave the course early?

If you leave the course before completion, we will charge a 10% cancellation fee.

We will return the remaining unused credit balance after applying any relevant charges.

How do I pay my landing fees?

We will deduct landing fees at our home airfield from your credit balance.

You must pay landing fees at other airfields when you land. Most airfields accept cash or card payments.

When should I arrange my medical examination?

You should arrange your medical examination as soon as possible. You must provide proof of the required medical certificate before your first solo flight.
