Nestled in the heart of Northamptonshire, Sywell Aerodrome is one of the UK’s most picturesque and well-preserved general aviation airfields. Originally opened in 1928, the aerodrome has a rich aviation heritage and is steeped in history, having served as a vital RAF training base during World War II. For those just starting out, trial flying lessons and experience flights provide an introduction to flying before committing to a full course, alongside PPL and NPPL courses for students working towards their private pilot licence. Fast track courses are also available for those looking to complete their training on an accelerated timescale. Beyond initial licence training, Almat provide an Instrument Rating (Restricted) and Night Rating for pilots wishing to extend their privileges, together with groundschool tuition and theory exam preparation to support the knowledge side of training.
