Steve Becomes An Examiner
Congratulations to our head of training Steve Mason who recently qualified as an examiner for PPL (A) and LAPL (A). This means we now have our own full time in-house examiner.
Congratulations also go out to Tom Berkeley, one of our full time instructors. He recently upgraded his restricted Instructor Rating to an unrestricted rating. As a result he is now able to send people off on their first solo flight.
New Addition to the Fleet?
As we are getting busier we are looking to add to our fleet. We have been offered a 1998 Cessna 172R Skyhawk. It is a far more modern Cessna than those in our current fleet, and better equipped. We have polled our fixed wing pilot members to see if they are happy with the hire rate we would need to charge before making the decision. So if you are one of our fixed wing members please check your email and reply to our poll.
New Partnership
We are very pleased to announce a partnership with Fantasy Wings, an organisation working to support Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people and Women getting into the aviation industry to broaden diversity in the sector. They have identified that at the moment 96% of those in the industry are men, and just 7% are from black, asian and minority ethnic groups. We shall be providing members of their programme with trial lessons. Furthermore they have places for three full time scholarships that shall be delivered through our fast track PPL licence scheme.
PPL Expert Launch
PPL expert is an suite of online study tools, also suitable for LAPL (fixed wing and helicopter) to get students prepared for the CAA theory exams. Including an interactive question bank, training videos, CRP-1 masterclass and revision factsheets. We recently completed our beta test and got some feedback from our students. As a result we have made numerous improvements and will also be adding another “mystery feature”. We are now working to finish off the final form of this fantastic platform for the official launch.
