Almat Flying Academy offers trial flying lessons, PPL and NPPL training and post-licence ratings at Sywell Aerodrome (EGBK), just north-east of Northampton. Students travel to us from Northampton, Kettering, Wellingborough, Milton Keynes, Bedford, Leicester and across the East Midlands. Sywell Aerodrome sits on the edge of Sywell village in Northamptonshire, around ten miles from Northampton town centre and four miles from Wellingborough โ making it a convenient training base for pilots across Northampton, Wellingborough, Kettering, Rushden and the wider East Midlands. One of the UK’s most picturesque and well-preserved general aviation airfields, Sywell opened in 1928 and has a rich aviation heritage. During the Second World War, RAF Sywell trained pilots on Tiger Moths, and its wartime workshops repaired Vickers Wellington bombers and built almost 100 Avro Lancasters. Today the aerodrome blends that vintage charm with contemporary aviation facilities, and its iconic Art Deco-style terminal building remains a nod to the golden age of flight
